NADH: Parkinson's disease (section 2 of 2)
. . .continued from the previous page

To make the clinical test results easy to understand we've interpreted and translated the clinical language of the study. Our interpretation is listed below. This was an open label trial of 885 patients using NADH as the medication in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

Interpretation of the results:
In about 80 % of the patients a beneficial clinical effect was observed:

  • 19.3% of the patients showed a very good ( 30% to 50%) improvement of disability
  • 58.8% a moderate (10 - 30 %) improvement.
  • 21.8 % did not respond to the NADH.

Statistical analysis of the improvement is correlated to:

  • the disability prior to treatment
  • the duration of the disease
  • the age of the patients

Conclusions:
This above three parameters have significant influence on the improvement.

  • The degree of the patient's disability before the treatment has a very positive relationship (or regression coefficient of - t < 0.01).
  • The duration of the disease has a negative relationship (or regression coefficient of - t < 0.01)
  • The age of the patient has a negative relationship (or regression coefficient of - t< 0.05).

In other words younger patients, and patients with a shorter duration of disease, have a better chance to gain a marked improvement than older patients, and patients with a longer duration of the disease.

The stages of the disease is important. If Parkinson's disease is in the advanced stages, it is difficult to show improvement. On the negative side, once the brain cells have died from the Parkinson's disease, it is very difficult to show any improvement.

The orally administered NADH yielded a better results and improvement in the disability when compared to the parenterally (intravenous) administered NADH.

NADH dosage:
5mg ENADA boxSince the mid-eighties more than 3,000 Parkinsonian patients have received NADH either as intravenous infusion or in oral tablet form.

Dr. Birkmayer's recommended dosage was up to 25mg per day. No adverse side effects were observed.

Clinical Study:
In a recent, open label trial of 885 patients, NADH was used as the medication in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. About half of the patients received NADH by intravenous infusion, the other half by oral tablets. Patients that received NADH oral tablets experienced better results. You can get the same NADH oral tablet here at this web site. The NADH oral tablet is called Co-E1®.

We have included the Parkinson's disease clinical trial results in this web site. It is very difficult to read, and very technical in nature. The clinical trial study results are usually read by health care professionals. The section is for the people who want to bring the actual clinical research study to their doctor or health care professional.
