NADH: An Executive Summary (3 of 4)
. . .continued from the previous
pageNADH improves physical & mental
functions
A growing body of
scientific research shows that NADH stimulates the brain cells production of
neurotransmitters. The neurotransmitters dopamine, noradrenaline and serotonin
are the chemical messengers of our brain and nervous system.
- Dopamine is vital for short-term memory, involuntary movements
(kidney functions), muscle tone, emotional drive and spontaneous reactions.
- Noradrenaline is responsible for alertness, concentration and
mental activity.
- Serotonin is important for sleep and emotional balance.
NADH and increasing energy
All living cells require energy to stay alive. Without energy a cell dies. The amount of
NADH a cell contains depends on the amount of energy it requires. Heart muscle cells which
have to pump continuously throughout an entire lifetime,
contain 90 micrograms of NADH per gram of heart tissue. Red blood cells, which are
replenished monthly, contain only 5 micrograms of NADH. Brain cells, requiring NADH for
energy, neurotransmitter production and information processing, contain 50 micrograms of
NADH.
With aging, energy levels in our cells decrease. In other words: aging
is loss of energy. When cell energy declines below a certain threshold, cell death
and tissue degeneration occurs. Energy loss often plays a substantial role in degenerative
diseases and disorders, including: Alzheimers disease, Parkinsons
disease, depression, and in many neurological disorders. As NADH
increases cellular energy production it may help extend cell life.
Co-E1 ...even for the healthiest !
A 1995 open label study was conducted with world competition level cyclists and long
distance runners found a wide range of performance improvements. These international
athletes were given 5mg of Co-E1® / NADH daily for one month. The study concluded NADH:
improved oxygen capacity, decreased reaction time and provided greater mental acuity and
alertness.
