ATP Energy
. . . to the previous page
Every mitochondria or power plant, in every cell, in the human body generates the same type of power or electricity. No matter what the power requirement, when cells need to be plugged in and powered up, the source is always the same. It's called ATP energy.

ATP energy for cells to function

ATP energy runs everything from the deepest thoughts within your mind to every beat of your heart in a lifetime. In nature, ATP energy is needed to provide energy for heat, nerve electricity, light (as in fireflies), and muscle movement. An ATP molecule is held together by strong electrical forces which are set free when the molecule is broken apart in a chemical reaction. Somehow, these forces are converted into the kind of mechanical energy that will move our muscles.

There are many things about ATP we can talk about. But our objective is to stay focused on how ATP energy is created.
